Product Description
Like the 4R grind, the larger 5R grind is very well suited to high RPM
operation and is capable of 11krpm with the proper spring setup. The
FP5R gives a further increase in upper RPM power over the 4R grind and
turbo selection should reflect this extra upper RPM capacity. There is
a slight decrease in idle vacuum, and a slight increase in idle RPM may
be required but good idle below 1000rpm is typical.
The FP5R camshaft grinds require a spring upgrade, it is not possible to use the factory retainers or springs due to the increase in the lift to .475" with this grind. Installer must check for coil-bind and retainer/seal contact during assembly. While most aftermarket pistons allow for adequate piston to valve clearance, checking this clearance is highly recommended in ever case, this need is even greater when using oversize valves.
